I give thanks to you, O God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever—Psalm 86:1
We are so very thankful to the many of you that came out and volunteered at the Cornerstone workday last Saturday. Lots of needed work was accomplished around the chapel, and even more importantly, new relationships were forged in the process. A win, win for sure! Please don’t forget to thank David Steffens for his willingness to organize and execute such a great workday for us.
Then, on Tuesday night of this week, the women of Cornerstone gathered at Kari Shepherd’s house for a night of fellowship and testimony sharing. A big “thank you” to Charlotte Robinson and the team of ladies around her that worked so hard to make it a special night. Many of the reports I heard expressed great appreciation for Lydia Miller’s willingness to share her life story with the ladies. You are a gift to our congregation, Lydia. Thank you for letting the light of the gospel shine through your life!
Thanks to Greg Wilbur’s leadership, this is the second summer we’ve taken a break on Wednesday nights just to enjoy some fun family films together. This past Wednesday night a good crowd joined us for the “Apple Dumpling Gang”—a Don Knott’s classic. With popcorn and candy in tow, I’ve been happy to see you pile in to the chapel, many times with families and friends you’ve invited from your neighborhoods, to simply enjoy a film and one another. I’m already looking forward to next year!
Turning our attention toward the future, I’m really excited to announce that we’re planning at least four “Cornerstone Family Meetings” this church year. These family meetings are designed to renew vision, introduce ministry initiatives, highlight particular ministries, share testimonies of God’s work, and get an overall “state of the union” on the church. As you know, it can be hard to identify time and space for congregation members to participate in such forums. This is why we’ve decided to utilize the present Sunday School break for the first of these meetings.
Next Sunday, July 29th from 9:45-10:30am you are invited to gather with the leadership at Cornerstone in the chapel to review the adopted operating budget for the 2012-2013 church year and be introduced to the upcoming nomination process for the offices of Elder and Deacon. We are very excited at how the Lord is moving in our midst, and so we hope you will set aside this time and participate with us as we grow together in our calling to glorify and enjoy God forever.
